Master Chief Walker assumed his current duties as the Carrier Air Wing NINE, Command Master Chief in February 2017. His responsibilities include the dissemination and promotion of navy policies which affect the mission, readiness, welfare, and morale of all “Team Shogun” Sailors within the Air Wing and their families. Master Chief Walker was born in Brunswick, GA. He graduated from Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, GA and entered the Navy in September 1997. After completing basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes he attended Radioman Apprenticeship Training at NTC Great Lakes, IL. In April 1998, Master Chief Walker reported to his first command, USS McFAUL (DDG-74) homeported in Norfolk, VA. While onboard he deployed to both the Sixth Fleet and Fifth Fleet AOR's and was involved in multiple operations including ENDURING FREEDOM and advanced to First Class Petty Officer. Master Chief Walker then reported for Instructor duty at the Center for Information Dominance LS Great Lakes, IL in January 2002. During this tour he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer, and was selected as the Curriculum Development Leading Chief Petty Officer for Apprenticeship training. In January 2005 Master Chief Walker reported to Commander Naval Forces Europe-Commander Sixth Fleet, in Naples, Italy where he was assigned as the flag communications Leading Chief Petty Officer for Commander United States Naval Forces Europe-Commander Armed Forces South. Master Chief Walker then reported to Navy Personnel Command, Millington, TN in August 2008 and was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer. Master Chief Walker volunteered for assignment to the commissioning crew of the USS ANCHORAGE (LPD-23) built in Avondale, LA and homeported in San Diego, CA. While onboard he was selected for Master Chief Petty Officer and the Command Master Chief Program. Master Chief Walker holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland University College. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 159 Blue) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat (Class 129). Master Chief Walker's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various unit and personal awards. He is married and has two sons.
